In a few short years, our student population has vastly increased, presently boasting an approximate enrollment of over 2000 students to date. We are committed to create an informative, comfortable and nurturing environment for today's teens, combining academic excellence with traditional values.
At JYN Academy, we strive for excellence and quality in all our curriculums, and pride ourselves on the rapid growth of our student body and courses provided. We offer a variety of courses to students in Grade 8 through 12, JYN continually enhances its program with the yearly addition of new courses based on growth and demand. JYN Academy, is a private high school approved by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
Each completed course is worth one Ontario ministry-approved credit. We encourage students to be involved in JYN Academy for as many years of high school as they can to fully take advantage of the JYN Academy experience. We advise that you consult with your guidance counsellor who will understand your personal academic goals and requirements to guide you on how to best capitalize on the extra credits you receive at JYN Academy.
Aside from our summer courses, all courses are year-long, i.e. the span of a full academic year. Courses total 110 hours. They begin in September and finish in June. Typically, each weekly class is two hours long. Class field trips, educational retreats or ISU also contribute to the accumulation of the mandatory 110 hours per course. Assessments and quizzes will be given periodically, and note taking will be marked to assess comprehension and participation. As well, mid-terms and final assessments or projects will be administered to meet Ontario Ministry credit requirements.
JYN Academy is open to students of grades 8 through 12. You do not have to be observant or have Jewish knowledge to join. All students are welcome regardless of background, observance or affiliation. JYN Academy is perfect for teens who are currently enrolled full-time in another academic institution and are interested in mixing it up by taking a course with us. Students can choose from a variety of courses, both compulsory and elective, Jewish studies and general studies, depending on their academic needs and interests.
By enrolling in JYN Academy, you will receive one credit per course taken. You may consider substituting courses offered at your school with one of ours, however we recommend that you consult with your school guidance department to make sure your academic requirements are being met. These courses can help your acceptance into university, we send our grade 12 marks directly to OUAC / OCAS, and early acceptance as well as scholarships may depend on the mark you receive on the Grade 12 courses you take with us.
